Futon Frames 101
Your futon frame can be made of metal or wood. The most common frame is the bi-fold futon frame. Perfect for use as a conventional sofa and frequent conversion to a bed, the futon mattress is folded in half horizontally. Bi-fold futon frames are usually available in chair, full and queen sizes.

What size do I need?
First, you need to measure your futon. This is best done with you futon mattress on a hard, flat surface. Using two rulers, place the
first ruler along the middle of one short side of the futon, and the second
along the other short side of the futon. Using a tape measure, measure from ruler to ruler. This measurement is the width. Now place the rulers along the long sides of the futon. This is your length. To measure the loft, place one ruler under the mattress near the corner, and the second ruler on top of the mattress in the same place near the corner. With the tape measure measure the distance between the two rulers. This is your loft measurement. Take these measurements with you when you go to purchase your cover.
